WHERE TO BUY HELMUT LOTTI
RECORDINGS
Most record stores now carry, or can order, some of Helmut’s
Classics series albums. The Out of Africa and Classic III ("Helmut
Lotti: Original Classics") albums have not been released for sale in the United States.
We
know that Sam Goody’s, Tower
Records, Borders, and Rizzoli have been reported
to have in stock most of the recordings that have been released for U.S. sale.
INTERNET SITES Note: Videos purchased overseas (including the U.K.) will probably be in the European (PAL) format and will have to be converted to the North American (NTSC) format before they can be played on most North American VCRs. This can be expensive. There is no conversion problem with CDs or tape cassettes -- they seem to be compatible world wide. . Net Beat in
the U.K. is a full featured site and seems to carry most of Helmut's current
releases including Vlaamse Hits. They are reported to be very slow and
not too responsive to e-mail. As noted above, though, all overseas sites are
slow when delivering by ordinary mail. Photo by Scott Scudamore Amazon Germany: a site for most foreign releases. Amazon.com Because of its foreign affiliates, Amazon has a large selection of CDs, DVDs, and videos. They do not carry Helmut's earlier popular releases, but do carry the "Classics" series through Out of Africa. Tower Records: This chain apparently can obtain imported recordings. Go to the web site and click on "Store Locator" at the bottom of the page in order to find the store nearest to you. HMV is another full featured site (in Canada) and carries CDs, Music Cassettes, and Videos (NTSC formatted), that have been released for North American sale. CD Now is a site in the U.S. but carries only a few of the recordings released for sale in the U.S. Delivery is prompt.
MAIL or TELEPHONE ORDER Holland Music Company in Michigan carries, or can get, most of Helmut’s recordings – even those not yet released for sale in the U.S. Telephone contact is best for discussing PAL (European format) to NTSC (North American format) conversions for video tapes. (This store has recently moved to new quarters and "officially" has a new name but Carl says they are retaining their old identity for Helmut fans and the phone number has not changed.) Holland Music Co. (also known as Holland Compact Disc) Ask for Mr. Carl Bierling. We are told he is very responsive to e-mail inquiries. holcompdisc@charter.net
